Databases

We subscribe to over 20 different databases, all of which you may find useful for your research. These are a few research specific databases which you may find particularly helpful :

Academic Search Premier - not a research database, but a good all round resource that covers most academic subjects. It is easy to use, and mainly full text so a good one with which to start your prelimary literature searches. For a helpguide on this database see below *

CERUK - a freely accessible database covering all phases of education from early years to adults, including a wide range of commissioned research and PhD level theses.

GrantFinder - a grants and policy database which includes details of over 6,000 funding opportunities. Please contact Claire Pearce cpearce@marjon.ac.uk or x3055 to set up a username and password.

Research Professional- an international database of research related resources, and includes information on funding opportunities, potential sponsers and guidance on applying for funding. Off campus users will need to apply for an individual username and password.

Research in Practice - this is the largest children and families research project in the UK, which supports research awareness evidence-informed practice. It is run in collaboration with almost 100 agencies in the UK. The username and password is listed on the Library section of Learning Space.

A listing of all our electronic databases can be found here.

If you have any problems at all using databases, or you're just a bit unsure about how to get started, please contact Claire Stevens [ cstevens@marjon.ac.uk ] for a tutorial.
