Buying a TV Licence
If you have a television in your room on campus you must buy a Licence
If you have a television you have to buy a TV Licence. This costs £145.50 per year for a colour TV. There is no discount for students living in campus accommodation. But, if you have one television in your common room then you can buy a shared Licence between all house members.
To buy a TV Licence or to get more information you can look at the TV Licensing web site or go to any Post Office.
Checks are frequently made by the TV Licensing Department. If you do not buy a TV Licence and you are caught, you could have a fine of up to £1,000 and have to go to court.
