The University College has its origins dated back to 1840 and is recognised as the oldest teacher training college in the UK.  In current times the University College has a diverse portfolio of courses and you may also notice that it is also known by many people as UCP Marjon.  You may see our more modern logo featured both on campus and on our website and promotional materials.

With just over 4,000 students, the University College prides itself on being a small enough institution to give a very high level of support to all of its students.

Situated in the South West of England and located in the modern, vibrant city of Plymouth, University College Plymouth St Mark and St John offers the amenities of a major city amidst beautiful surroundings but yet is only 3 hours by road and rail from London. The University College is based on a single campus and students can therefore feel reassured that they are coming to study in the safety of a campus environment, in a major city but with accessibility to all that the UK has to offer.

International students are welcome to apply for any of the University College's Undergraduate, Postgraduate and other professional development programmes.

We also offer a great range of preparation programmes such as the International Foundation Programme  and Academic English Preparation Courses for international students as well as a range of professionally relevant courses at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level to ensure students have the best chance of employment success. Many programmes also offer a period of work placement or work experience.

The pre-sessional Academic English Preparation Courses are open to all students wishing to improve their academic literacy in preparation for a degree programme at the University College.

We offer top quality English language and teacher training. Our programme of short summer ELT courses for English language teachers, trainers and language education professionals provides an ideal opportunity for professional development covering all aspects of language development and methodology from primary and secondary education to trainer development.

We have worked with overseas partners for over thirty years through consultancy, short courses and through offering diploma and degree programmes in partnership with other education institutions.

The Centre for International Language Teacher Education (CILTE) specialises in the delivery of high quality training and services related to English Language Teacher Education, both on our small and friendly campus and around the world.

International students can apply either directly or through UCAS (for Undergraduate students). The International Office works closely with Student Support, Marjon Student Union, the Chaplaincy, the Library, Media Services and with academics to ensure that all international students have the support they need during their time here.
