BSc (Hons) Sport Rehabilitation in sport and Exercise Progression course
Introduction
As the number of people participating in sport and exercise at all levels continues to increase, so too do the diverse demands on healthcare practitioners. The need for specialist, qualified and professional practitioners in sport and exercise rehabilitation is therefore in demand. These practioners will have excellent technical skills, supported by scientific understanding, and who can work alongside and complement the existing healthcare practitioners. The overall aim of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and ability to develop and implement rehabilitation programmes, to return athletes to full functional fitness, develop a critical awareness of current trends in sport and exercise rehabilitation and apply them in a working environment.

Module Information
Diagnostics and Injury Management - This module will focus on the diagnosis and management of common sports and exercise related injuries. The module seeks to apply and develop practical skills and knowledge to assess and manage clients clinically.
Professionalism, Innovations and Ethics in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation - This module will allow the student to explore and analyze the development and innovations of sports rehabilitation, which will stimulate the student towards developing an approach to sports rehabilitation that seem innovation and change as essential components of the rehabilitation process. This module will also help the students develop a philosophical and sociological understanding of issues associated with professional and ethics, the student will appreciate the open nature of professionalism and ethics of a sporting nature and its scope for development across sports rehabilitation.
Academic and Practical Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation - The aim of the module is to further develop students’ comprehension of anatomy and advanced practical techniques. Overall it provides the learner with an applied practical understanding of anatomy which is integral to the course and is important to ensure technical competence and safety. The learner will also demonstrate advanced practical techniques.
Emergency Trauma Levels 1, 2 and, 3 - This module aims to evaluate the role of an individual within immediate trauma management on the field of play. Students will develop their knowledge and understanding of the application of first aid techniques up to an advanced level. This will include the administration of oxygen and entonox therapy along with emergency handling and rescue procedures. This module is approved and validated by the Society of Sports Therapists and the Football Association.

Additional Information
All Sport Rehabilitation students will complete a minimum of 100 clinical hours. UCP Marjon has a new 12 bed Sports Therapy Clinic which provides affordable Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Services in a closely supervised (by our Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Lecturing Team) student lead environment. Students treat a wide range of patient types who attend the clinic from the professional athlete through university level athlete and to the general public.
