Module Information

1st year
Six modules provide a comprehensive grounding in the academic, critical and practical skills you will carry forward throughout your studies. New Media 1 takes place in our newly installed ICT suite and focuses on the creative potential of computing, Media Cultures & Contexts explores how we engage with and understand the media. The Creative Project is the time to build on the skills and interests previously developed in the Introduction to Creative Media module.

2nd year
A compulsory module focuses on applied media research. You select five further modules which include moving image production, web practices, documentary production, digital audio, photography, work-based learning and magazine production. Students wishing to pursue a particular interest can choose to take one module as supervised independent study.

3rd Year
The core of year three is the dissertation – a double-sized module based on your own special interest. This can be a written project, but many students choose a creative dissertation combining research with practice such as photography. You can take an extended media work placement and there is a broad range of further options to help you develop your own individual profile in areas such as video drama, photography, writing, sound design and new media.
