Mathematics 1 Unit Subject Knowledge Enhancement Course
Introduction
Throughout the 10 days, there will be an emphasis on forms of representation, mathematical modelling (including the use of ICT and physical simulation), and warrants for results (hypothesis, demonstration, proof). Particular attention is paid to the underlying processes and structures of mathematics. The course is designed for aspiring teachers whose mathematics (or strongly related discipline) degree is narrowly focussed or rather distant (in time of content) from contemporary secondary studies.

The courses last for 10 full days consisting in total of 50 hours of face-to-face tuition. These courses are provided under the auspices of the TDA’s subject knowledge enhancement initiatives. This course is held ahead of the start of teacher training – this will be from 16th - 27th July 2012.
Entry Requirements
- You must have been offered and have accepted a training place with an ITT provider for a secondary mathematics course (PGCE, GTP, or similar graduate programme)
- The offer you hold will be conditioned on successful completion of the Mathematics 1 Unit Subject Knowledge Enhancement course
- You may have been referred to us by your ITT provider
- You cannot be accepted onto the course if you have already taken part in a TDA funded subject knowledge enhancement course.
