UCP Marjon to provide rehearsal space
Released: 16.03.10
UCP Marjon is delighted to be offering its facilities as the new rehearsal venue for Plymouth Symphony Orchestra. The University College had originally offered them rehearsal space for the start of next term. However as their previous venue, the Swarthmore is on Mutley Plain, they have been allowed to use the facilities immediately.
Ian Banbury from PSO said
“We are grateful for this, as it would probably prove difficult for members of the orchestra to get to rehearsals because of the planned road closure. The University College is one of the few establishments in Plymouth that has rooms large enough to accommodate a full symphony orchestra and it is hoped that this will be the start of a long and fruitful partnership.”
UCP Marjon now offers a wide range of degrees in media and the creative arts and the new programmes in Live Music and Media Production are proving popular. The new partnership between Plymouth Symphony Orchestra and UCP Marjon fits in well with the new strategy to develop the cultural role of the University College, not only in the local live music scene but in areas of classical music, creative writing, photography and poetry events. The University College aims to provide continued support for the community, City and wider region.
