Steve Ansell, Programme Leader in the International Department at UCP Marjon, has been leading the delivery of Block 2 of a Masters course in Colima, Mexico.  Whilst he was there, he was contacted by Proyecto Gilberto, a charity formed in the aftermath of the earthquake that did so much damage to Colima in  2003, and who now raise funds to assist in low-cost housing projects and social welfare activity.

On return to UCP Marjon Steve contacted the UCP Marjon Social Action Group who raised £450 for Gilberto. The sum raised represents almost exactly the amount needed to act as a deposit for one family in purchasing a low cost housing unit, and this is the use to which it shall be put.

Steve was presented with a certificate to thank the Universtity College for it's involvement and a small table-top sculpture representing cooperation and friendship. Proyecto Gilberto has also invited Steve to a small ceremony in the summer at which the keys to the unit are handed over to the family.
